OVERVIEW
SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificates provide the basis for encrypting data in transit over the internet. When installed and activated, an SSL Certificate will allow for an encrypted connection between information in transit between a web server and a client’s internet browser. This is often used as an indication of trustworthiness during online shopping, banking, or personal transactions.
Â
FEATURES
The provisioning of SSL certificates is fully managed by Armor. Armor also manages the rekeying or revoking of the certificate. Armor will create an SSL certificate provisioning ticket where all feedback and relevant information will be provided. Typically authorization can occur in two ways: email verification, where the customer must click a link provided to an authorized email account, or META tag authorization, whereby the code of a page must be modified to provide ownership validation.
To elaborate on the differences between the three types of SSL certificates we sell:
Domain SSL. Given a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) - for instance Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions - a certificate can be issued to protect traffic with that domain. With Subject Alternative Names (SAN) option. This is an add-on to the main SSL certificate, applicable for adding multiple unrelated domains to the parent certificate. Non-www variants are automatically provisioned by GlobalSign as a SAN option, so both Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions and Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions would be protected by the certificate.
Wildcard SSL. Given a FQDN with a wildcard (ie, *.Armor.com), all first level subdomains of Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions can be secured. For example: demo.Armor.com, ARMOR® , and Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions can all be secured with a single wildcard SSL certificate.
Extended Validation (EV) SSL. Given a FQDN (ie, Armor | Managed Detection & Response (MDR) and Compliant Cloud Solutions ) and detailed company and personal information, additional vetting goes into the allocation of this SSL Certificate. This type of certificate normally results in the client web browser showing a large green bar.
