  • Read Network IP
  • Write Network IP
  • Read Network NAT
  • Write Network NAT

You can use the IP Addresses screen to view and assign private and public IP addresses for your virtual machines. 

Note

By default, IP addresses assigned to a virtual machine are private; however, you can request a public IP address.

Note

Armor offers one free public IP address per virtual machine. You can request additional public IP addresses for the same virtual machine at an additional cost.

Note

Additionally, there is a cost associated with a public IP address that is not assigned (routed) to a virtual machine / private IP address.

  • Reserved (Assigned) - When the private IP address is assigned to a public IP address
  • Unassigned (Available) - When the private IP address is not assigned to a public IP address
  • Primary IP - The primary private IP address assigned to a virtual machine
  • Secondary IP - A secondary private IP address assigned to a virtual machine

Note

There is a cost associated with a public IP address that is not assigned (routed) to a private IP address. If you have a public IP address listed in your account that is not assigned to a private IP address, Armor recommends that you remove that public IP address from your account.

  • Not Routed: When a public IP address is not assigned to a private IP address.
  • Routed: When a public IP address has been assigned to a private IP address.

  1. In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
  2. Click IP Addresses. 
  3. If you have virtual machines in various data centers, then in the top menu, click the corresponding data center. 
  4. Click Public.
  5. Click the plus ( + ) icon. 
  6. Review the information under Environment and Quantity, and then click Add IP Addresses. 
  7. Locate and hover over the newly created public IP address. 
  8. Click the vertical ellipses.
  9. Click Assign to VM.
  10. In Virtual Machine, select the desired virtual machine.
  11. In IP Address, select an available private IP address.
  12. Click Create NAT.
    • This action may take a few minutes to complete.

Note

In this example, you will assign a public IP address that is displayed as Not Routed.

  1. In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
  2. Click IP Addresses. 
  3. If you have virtual machines in various data centers, then click the corresponding data center.

  5. Locate and hover over the desired public IP address. 
  6. Click the vertical ellipses.
  7. Click Assign to VM.
  8. In Virtual Machine, select the desired virtual machine.

Note

There is a cost associated with a public IP address that is not assigned (routed) to a virtual machine. After you unassign a public IP address, Armor recommends that you remove the unassigned IP address.

  1. In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
  2. Click IP Addresses. 
  3. If you have virtual machines in various data centers, then in the top menu, select the corresponding data center. 
  4. Click Public. 
  5. Locate and hover over the desired public IP address. 
  6. Click the vertical ellipses.
  7. Click Remove NAT.
  8. Click Remove NAT again.

If you do not plan to use this public IP address in the future, to avoid additional costs, Armor recommends that you remove the public IP address from your AMP account.

  1. In the Public section of the IP Addresses screen, locate and hover over the desired IP address.
  2. Click Relinquish IP.
  3. Click Relinquish IP again.

By default, new virtual machines are assigned a primary private IP address; however, you can assign a secondary private IP address.

  1. In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
  2. Click IP Addresses. 
  3. If you have virtual machines in various data centers, then in the top menu, select the corresponding data center. 
  4. Locate and hover over the desired private IP address. 
  5. Click the vertical ellipses. 
  6. Click Assign to VM. 
  7. In the drop-down menu, select the desired virtual machine, and then click Assign IP.

You cannot unassign a primary private IP address from a virtual machine.

  1. In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
  2. Click IP Addresses. 
  3. If you have virtual machines in various data centers, then in the top menu, select the corresponding data center. 
  4. Locate and hover over the desired private IP address. 
  5. Click the vertical ellipses. 
  6. Click Remove IP from VM. 
  7. Select Remove IP Assignment. 
  8. You must also unassign the IP address within the virtual machine to complete the removal.
